Mika & Natalie’s Lost Gulch Elopement in Boulder

Mika & Natalie’s number one priority for their elopement day was to have a stress-free experience that was focused on the two of them, so sunrise at this gorgeous mountaintop location for their simple and sweet elopement was absolutely perfect! Their Lost Gulch Elopement in Boulder was intimate, romantic, and filled with meaningful little details. It was everything they hoped it would be.

Mika & Natalie’s Love Story

Mika and Natalie’s story began while they were both working for the same hospital system. In the beginning, Natalie would find any excuse to visit Mika. They were just good friends for about a year before Natalie made a “boss move” and asked Mika out. Their first official date was compliments of a Groupon at a local fondue restaurant, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

The Proposal

Over the next three years, Mika and Natalie’s love for each other grew. They developed a mutual love for their adorable fur children, trying new restaurants and bars, going to live music shows, and their favorite hobby – traveling.

Last September, their traveling hearts led them on a ten-day trip to Norway. Once they arrived, they made plans to hike to the top of a mountain in Bergen. After reaching the summit of said mountain, Mika asked Natalie to be her wife, and Natalie said yes.

Their Lost Gulch Elopement

Making the decision to elope came easy for Mika, who loved the idea of getting married in nature. She wanted something intimate and memorable. A day that was just for them, free of any worry or drama.

On the other hand, Natalie always dreamt of a big wedding and needed more convincing. This was until she witnessed her stressed-out sister plan her own wedding and started to feel it was more about pleasing others than celebrating their love.

Shortly after this discovery, the idea of just showing up and having a great time sounded much better than a big wedding. Although she wasn’t too keen on the whole nature part initially, she knew of Mika’s love for the mountains, so Natalie obliged.

A month later, they traveled from their home in Texas to Colorado for their Boulder elopement.

Their day began before sunrise on December 5th. The same day Natalie’s Grandparents had married 60 years earlier. A date that will always hold a special place in their hearts for so many reasons.

These two beautiful brides committed to forever on top of Lost Gulch overlook. Their ceremony was intimate, sweet, and incredibly private. Given the time of day, they practically had the entire mountaintop to themselves, which is exactly what they had wanted.

They sealed their union with a kiss just as the winter sun rose over the city of Boulder and the gorgeous alpenglow lit up the rocky mountains.

Witnessing the sunrise on such a meaningful day was incredibly peaceful and refreshing, and they embraced every second of it all. Wind and all.

Have you considered how the time of day you get married may affect your elopement experience?
