Angie & Devin’s Elopement at Sprague Lake

There are few things sweeter than witnessing two people celebrate their love in a space as stunning as Sprague Lake in the Fall. Angie and Devin’s Sprague Lake Elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park was on the most beautiful autumn day. The brilliantly colored autumn leaves made for the most awe-inspiring backdrop on their perfect day.

Angie & Devin’s Love Story

Angie & Devin met in the cozy town of Russell, Kansas, when Angie first moved there. They had been in the same class but didn’t officially meet until the following summer. Their first date was at the movies, where they saw the horror movie Saw III. A scary choice for a first-date flick, but with optimal results – it was there that they held hands for the first time.

The Proposal

Devin took Angie to Swanson Park in Wichita, Kansas, to walk a familiar trail they enjoyed together. They were again holding hands, but this time it was Devin holding Angie’s hand a little tighter than usual. After walking the trail for a while, they decided to sit on a bench in front of the park. Devin was kind of shaky, and his breathing had become increasingly heavy. Angie teased him for being out of shape with his heavy breaths. Devin pulled out a ring a few seconds later and asked Angie to take his hand forever. Of course, the abnormally heavy breathing wasn’t from walking but from nervousness. Angie tells us it was so cute and perfect.

When we asked why they chose Colorado as their elopement location, they said it’s meaningful, beautiful, and closer. It was a debate between Las Vegas and Colorado for a long time, but they went with their hearts and chose Colorado. We don’t blame them.

An Intimate Sprague Lake Elopement

When it came time to celebrate their love, they knew they wanted something intimate and easy, with just the two of them, their officiant, Lisa, and of course us. So we met in the late afternoon at Sprague Lake, where they had a small intimate ceremony in the spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park.

We love how intimate elopements like Angie and Devin’s remind us to embrace the little moments in life.  Moments like the first time you hold hands or realize you have found the one.

Those seemingly overwhelming moments before you ask the love of your life to marry you, and those incredibly fleeting but ever so joyous moments after they say yes.

It’s those in-between moments when deciding where, how, and with who you want to spend your elopement day—all the little moments leading up to the most fantastic adventure of your life.

These are the moments we live for. The quiet, intimate, and effortlessly perfect moments remind us to be present, focused, and intentional with the ones we love the most.

Angie & Devin’s elopement at Sprague Lake was filled with a million and one of these moments, and needless to say, they embraced every single one.
