Full disclosure: Angie and Joe’s elopement at Garden of the Gods was so sweet, we still get emotional just thinking about it all. Angie and Joe’s relationship is the epitome of love, and we are so honored to have been able to document it on the best day of their lives.
From the intention, they put into the details of their day, like Angie wearing the pearls her great grandmothers, grandma, and mom all wore on their wedding day, to the extremely thoughtful gift Joe surprised his new bride with, this day was one for the books.
Angie & Joe’s Love Story
You’re going to want to prepare your tea for this: Angie and Joe are immediate coworkers at a software development company. Angie is in management; Joe is the lead architect. Angie and Joe worked together professionally for 2 years. They had formed a close professional friendship, until one day, Joe is struck by cupid’s arrow. He proceeds to try and win Angie over for an entire year. During that time, Angie contemplates calling HR on a daily basis to report him.
Flash forward to a work event where there is a team potluck. Joe makes homemade mac & cheese to share. Angie eats the entire crockpot. Joe notes Angie loves food. So, Joe starts bringing Angie homemade snacks and meals every day for 6 months. Eventually, Angie caves – betrayed by her own stomach. Angie realizes Joe is indeed not a creep and is actually everything she ever wanted (and didn’t know she needed), and can cook ridiculously well. The rest is history.
The Proposal
Angie and Joe took a trip to Telluride over the July 4th holiday. The exact weekend started dating 4 years prior. When they arrive in Telluride, they decide to hike to the tallest peak and immediately get altitude sickness.
The following day was the 4th of July. They wake up at 4 am to hike to Little Blue Lake. During an estimated 4 hr hike to the top of the lake, Joe starts moving at marathon speed. Meanwhile, Angie was struggling just to keep up. 6 hrs later they arrive at the top. Joe had arranged for a photographer to be there who was hiding in the grass when they arrived. Joe was looking for “the perfect spot to settle” while Angie was looking for snacks. Angie gets very hangry. Joe proposes at the most breathtaking spot, while Angie wheezes very hard. It was an amazing day. Although it was a tough climb up, it was a great story. Followed by a wonderful photoshoot (after snacks) – sweat, and all.
Their first look at The Paint Mines
Angie and Joe started their day at the iconic Paint Mines. They shared the sweetest first look. Afterward, they went back to their hotel in Colorado Springs to change into wedding outfit #2.
Garden of the Gods elopement ceremony
Before their Garden of the Gods elopement ceremony began, Angie did a first look with her father. Cue tears. It was an unbelievably sweet moment to share, and an emotional moment to witness.
The rest of their day was just as memorable and included several moments with their family that was equally emotional.
From their heartfelt, personal vows, to their wine box ceremony, to Joe surprising Angie with her dream ring their day was filled with love and happy tears. They were both so excited to be making the commitment to each other to spend the rest of their lives together, in a place they both love. It was an honor and a privilege to be there to witness the love that surrounded them on such an important day.
They even took celebratory shots after their ceremony.
They ended their day with a first dance before heading to dinner at a Mexican restaurant with their supportive families in tow!
